Taekwondo Classes in Sheffield

One class, every Saturday, 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, at Springwater Catholic Community Centre in Sheffield S12. Everyone trains together — beginners, black belts, children and adults — with instruction adapted to each student. Your first lesson is free.

Who trains with us

You do not need to be fit, flexible or sporty to start. You will get fitter by training; you do not need to get fit first.

Because everyone trains together, lower grades regularly end up trying black belt material alongside the seniors. It is not what most people expect of a martial arts class, and it is one of the things students tell us they enjoy most — they tend to surprise themselves.

Additional needs

We have taught students with additional needs for years, including students who have gone on to reach senior grades. We are not specialists and would not claim to be. What we have is four qualified instructors for a small class, which means someone can be given proper individual attention, and no reason at all to rush anybody. People move up when they are ready, not when a timetable says so.

We would far rather talk it through beforehand than get it wrong on the day. Tell us what helps and what does not — noise, physical contact, being singled out, needing to step outside for a few minutes — and we will plan around it. You are also welcome to come and watch a class without training, or to arrive early and see the hall while it is still quiet.

What we teach

We teach the full art of Taekwondo, not just parts of it. Every student works through all five disciplines:

What a Saturday looks like

Every lesson starts with a warm-up and a gentle stretching programme, then moves into our structured syllabus — basics and technique work, then whichever of the five disciplines we are focusing on that week. We finish by bringing everyone back together. Two hours sounds long, but it moves quickly and there are breaks.

Gradings

Gradings are held approximately every three to four months. You are never pushed to grade before you are ready. See our grading requirements for what each belt involves, and our pricing page for what it costs.
