Photo and Media Policy
Springwater Taekwondo is committed to providing a safe environment for children and adults. An essential part of that commitment is making sure all necessary steps are taken to protect people from the inappropriate use of their images and videos — in publications, on the internet and elsewhere, with a specific focus on children and young people.
Photographs and videos can be used to identify children and adults. A caption such as “well done to [name] on achieving their belt today at [club] in [town]” could raise the risk of grooming, or could reveal the location of someone fleeing domestic abuse, to name just two examples.
Accordingly, Springwater Taekwondo has adopted the photography and videography policy below, so that expectations and controls are clear and our members are protected.
Publishing images and video
This applies to the club and to students, parents and spectators alike. Before images or video are published on social media, websites or marketing material, please make sure that:
- Written permission has been obtained from the participant, or from their parent or guardian where the participant is under 18.
- Where a person is under 18 or considered at risk, their full name is not published alongside any identifiable image or video.
- Images and video are suitable for their intended purpose, and show participants and other club members appropriately dressed.
- Nothing contains obscene, foul or offensive behaviour or language.
- Where an image or video will be used on promotional material, including websites or printed literature, specific consent is sought in advance from those who are identifiable.
Video as a coaching aid
Video can be a legitimate coaching aid for clubs and instructors. If it is used, we make sure children and their parents or carers have given written consent and understand that it is part of the coaching programme, and that the recordings are then stored safely. This consent can be given on the registration form, but must be on record for any footage that is shared, broadcast or used more generally in training material.
