About This Pattern

Sipjin derives from the concept of "십장생" (Sipjangsaeng) - the Ten Creatures of Longevity in Korean tradition. These ten symbols represent eternal life, hope, and good fortune:

  • Celestial: Sun, Moon
  • Natural Elements: Mountain, Water, Stone
  • Plants: Pine tree, Herb of eternal youth
  • Animals: Tortoise, Deer, Crane

The pattern bestows faith, hope, and love to the practitioner, representing the aspiration for longevity and a harmonious life.

Key techniques: Hwangso makgi (ox jaw block), Jebipoom mok chigi (swallow form neck strike), Geodeureo deung jumeok olgul apchigi (assisted backfist high strike)

Bull block / Ox jaw block (Hwangso makgi) - no stepping

Back stance (Dwit kubi) + Left palm augmented outward block (Batangson geodeureo bakkat makgi)

뒷굽이 + 바탕손 거들어 바깥막기

Slide into front stance

Walking stance (Ap kubi) + Right horizontal fingertip thrust (Pyonsonkkeut jireugi) + Double punch

앞굽이 + 편손끝 찌르기 + 두번지르기

Step FORWARD + Turn 90° RIGHT

Horse stance (Juchum seogi) + Opening mountain block (Santeul hecheo makgi)

주춤서기 + 산틀 헤쳐막기

Cross stance grab + Horse stance - KIHAP!

Cross stance (Koa seogi) + Grab → Horse stance + Right side punch (Yop jireugi)

꼬아서기 → 주춤서기 + 옆지르기 - 기합!
